“Polski Merkuriusz Lekarski Polish Medical Journal” is an official journal of the Polish Medical Association. The Editor-in-Chief is Prof. Waldemar Kostewicz, MD, Dr hab.
“ Polski Merkuriusz Lekarski ” is popular among authors and readers due to its interdisciplinary nature. The Journal  is open to authors from the entire world. High substantive level is guaranteed by scientific board, reviewers and cooperation with the Polish Medical Association.

Articles from various disciplines of medicine, medical law and public health are published.The articles published in the bimonthly include original papers, review papers, and case studies  mainly in English. All articles are available as Open Access, following the idea of unrestricted sharing of knowledge and science spreading.

The title of the journal refers to the oldest Polish periodical – 1661 „Merkuriusz Polski”. In the 17th Century prints containing current news were known under the name of „Merkuriusz” (derived from the name of Mercury – the patron of professions related to delivering letters and spreading information between regions and states).

The IS0 4 standard abbreviation of Polski Merkuriusz Lekarski is Pol Merkur Lek. This abbreviation  is well recommended and approved for the purpose of indexing, abstraction, referencing and citing goals. It meets all the essential criteria of ISO 4 standard.
